So we used to have this awesome habit of cleaning the kitchen directly after dinner. Over the past few months (since Al has been working/commuting for 13 hours a day and I’ve been colossal and tired), we’ve fallen off. I just put the dishes away when I wake up in the morning. Well, last night Al and I cleaned everything, and I must say there is nothing quite like waking up to a clean house and being free to make breakfast. Lol. I miss this. So I guess I need to get back on that.
Anyway, on Monday I ordered the rest of Alvin’s things. Now we have everything he needs! Or at least I think we do. Lol. Everything should be here by next week, and I can’t wait to finish decorating his nursery. I made a sign that says “Read to Me,” which will go above his hanging bookshelves.
I bought the wooden letters from Michael’s. They have the cutest Christmas things! I found the things I wanted to buy, but I know I wouldn’t be able to wait until the day after Thanksgiving to put them up so I’m going to wait until we’re closer. Al is torturing me. Lol. I saw some really cute advent calendars, but last night I got a pretty great idea and decided that I would make an advent chalkboard calendar myself. Probably do it next week.
I had another OBGYN appointment on Monday, and Alvin is doing well. His heartbeat sounds great, and he is growing. He is moving around like crazy right now. Im 36 weeks today, and having the c-section in 21 days. I have been having contractions the past week. I’m pretty sure they are still Braxton Hicks, but they are growing in intensity. Alvin also started to kick right underneath my ribs a couple of days ago, which is more annoying and uncomfortable than painful. So it appears all the things I thought I’d be lucky enough to miss- labor pains from a scheduled c-section and a rib-kicking baby- have only managed to wait until the very end. Hopefully I’ll still make it out of here stretch mark free 🙂
This weekend I helped teach in the kindergarten class at church. If I ever thought about being a kindergarten teacher, I probably would have changed my mind after Sunday. Lol. The kids were super cute, and they were weren’t bad; they were just typical 5 year olds. And 15 high-energy 5 year olds in one room is a lot. Its fine for a few hours, but I couldn’t do it everyday, all day. Also, I don’t really have any experience with that age range besides my niece and nephews, so I don’t really know what to do with them & I don’t know where they are. Like, do they read yet? Can they write their names? How complex or simple do I need to make my conversations? Lol. Its different with my niece and nephews because I watch them grow up so I know where they are. But other people’s children… like children under 8 or 9. I don’t have a clue. So much to learn.
One of the boys in there reminded me so much of my nephew Elijah. He asked if I had a baby in my stomach. I told him I was having a little boy, and he said, “Well, I bet he is going to be so cute!” Lol. He had a scratchy voice and moved his mouth like my nephew when he spoke. Can’t wait to see Jada and Elijah and meet my new niece. Just a few months to go!
Also this weekend Al and I went to our friend’s son’s 9th birthday party. Besides Jada and Elijah, I don’t think I have ever been to a child’s birthday party. It was like Chuck-E-Cheese, but less corny. And the kids had so much energy. All of them. Every single child in the building. Lol. We had a lot of fun. Our friend & her family are coming over for dinner tonight. And Sunday we are going to another friend’s house for dinner.
I’m excited to finally be meeting people, and pretty awesome people at that. That’s one of the things that I don’t like about not working and being done with school. I still don’t know anyone here. Al & X have met people at work & school the past year. Meanwhile, I’m just chillin’ at the house with Sunshine and Brandie. Lol. I was going to start volunteering at this homeless shelter and this hospital earlier this year, but then I found out I was pregnant. I was advised to wait since my immune system is weakened and I would be in an environment with people who unfortunately are not in good health- which makes all the sense.
Yesterday I went to my dad’s to pick up the steam cleaner. At some point, we are going to buy our own, but like once a month I ask if I can borrow his. I am always nervous about being unaware that our house smells like our dogs because we’re here everday. I can only assume that people with smelly animal houses don’t realize that they have smelly animal houses, so ya know… gotta be careful. Lol. Off to start my day. Later!
